Olberon Medical Innovations Limited, is a privately-owned UK company, based at the University Of Nottingham Institute for Enterprise and Innovation Lab. As a start up company, Olberon was formed in Summer 2005, in order to develop and commercialise innovative medical devices concepts that originated from direct experience of patient care, where the need is clearly identified and the solution’s intellectual property rights are closely protected. Pivotal to Olberon is its I.P., and the experience of its management team.

Key Personnel

Dr. Arash Bakhtyari – Arash has experience in both NHS (as a surgeon and radiologist) and is also a certified specialist in pharmaceutical medicine, with over 6 years’ experience in the commercial sector, having worked in senior medical posts in both contract research organisations and a multinational pharmaceutical company. Arash currently has the role of the managing and scientific director.

Mr. James Armstrong – A dynamic Manufacturing Management Graduate (BEng) with a track record of success in sales, business development, marketing, purchasing and building strong customer and supplier relations. James had an early career with blue chip companies (Emerson and British Airways Engineering) and for the last 11 years has used this corporate background to help SME’s working in the medical, engineering and aerospace sectors to develop their businesses and achieve sustained growth. He brings his skill set to Olberon and will be working in the capacity of Business Development Director to facilitate the transition from R&D phase to the commercialisation phase of Olberon’s I.P.

Dr. John Altrip – John joins Olberon from an established career in the science and technology sector, having over 17 years experience within academia, commercial research and development organisations, multinational volume manufacturing and technology start-up companies. He is presently fulfilling a technical scientific role, expanding Olberon's IP and product portfolio, and supporting the development of Olberon's first products into volume manufacturing.

Dr. Gareth Lloyd-Jones - Non Executive Director - Gareth is an ex Director of Smith & Nephew plc as well as Ex Director of Product R&D at Reckitt and Coleman plc. He is a Non-Executive Director of Medilink, MediPex and BITECIC in Yorkshire as well as a Fellow of the Royal Society Chemistry and Honorary Professor of Chemistry at University of York. Gareth has brought his considerable management experience to guide Olberon and shape its development as a successful company.

Mr. Darren Hall - Non Executive Director - Darren has gained extensive international experience in the Life Sciences sector over the past 12 years, built upon a successful track record at board level at Graseby Plc, Smiths Industries, Biocompatibles Plc. During this time he has been heavily involved in a number of successful acquisitions and divestments.
Darren has specific expertise in bringing new products to market, developing operational infrastructure and global supply chains.
